PART TIME CHILDCARE STAFF

Compensation: $25/hr ~ 2 hours per wk

JOB DESCRIPTION 

This position serves Veritas Community Church by providing safe, Christ-centered care for children during a 9-week Bible study, creating a welcoming and secure environment that allows parents to participate more in the study.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide safe, attentive, and Christ-centered care for children during scheduled Bible study sessions.

  • Maintain the two-adult rule and required child-to-adult ratios at all times.

  • Supervise children closely and ensure all childcare spaces remain observable and interruptible.

  • Follow Veritas’ childcare, safeguarding, health, emergency, and incident-reporting policies.

  • Provide calm, clear, and restorative verbal redirection; no physical discipline.

  • Follow all restroom and diapering policies; parents are responsible for restroom and diapering needs.

  • Communicate appropriately with the ministry leader overseeing the Bible study regarding attendance, needs, concerns, or incidents.

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with children and families, including no private or out-of-program communication or direct electronic messaging.

  • Follow sick-child and allergy policies and appropriately communicate concerns to the ministry leader.

  • Complete required incident documentation and follow emergency procedures when necessary.

  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality and provide appropriate accommodations for children with special needs or foster care backgrounds.

  • Arrive on time for scheduled sessions and remain with children until appropriately released by the ministry leader.

  • Complete all required background checks, safeguarding requirements, and training before serving.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Previous childcare, nursery, teaching, or youth ministry experience preferred.

  • Experience caring for children in a church or ministry setting is highly desirable.

  • Ability to create a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment for children.

  • Strong communication, reliability, and judgment.

  • Ability to follow established safety, supervision, and safeguarding policies consistently.

  • Must successfully complete required application, interview, background check, references, and safeguarding training.

  • Must be willing to work as a part-time, hourly W2 employee for the duration of the 9-week Bible study from 9:15 am - 11:15 am select Thursdays throughout the study.
